Vet on the Loose makes it easy by providing Animal Health Certificates (AHCs) in the comfort of your home.

We offer mobile appointments across Essex, Hertfordshire, and London, so your pet’s paperwork is sorted stress-free.

✅ What You Need for Pet Travel to the EU

To travel from Great Britain to the EU (or Northern Ireland), your dog, cat or ferret needs:

  1. A Microchip

    Your pet must be microchipped and the chip must be readable.

  2. A Rabies Vaccination

    • Must be given after the microchip.

    • Your pet must be at least 12 weeks old.

    • This must be given at least 21 days before travel.

  3. An Animal Health Certificate (AHC)

    • Issued within 10 days of travel.

    • Valid for entry into the EU, travel within the EU for 4 months, and return to the UK.

    • One certificate per trip.

  4. Tapeworm Treatment (for Dogs only)

    • Required for entry into certain countries, including Ireland, Finland, Norway, and Malta.

    • Must be given 24–120 hours before arrival.
