Meet the faces behind the name

Hi I’m João!

I’m originally from Portugal but I’ve been calling the UK home for over 8 years now. And these are the furry family members: Rafa (the brown dog) is 11 years old and he’s a rescue dog from Macau in the far-off land of China. Brownie, a Bernese Mountain dog (she passed away early this year...) and Tiger is a handsome 4 year old ginger cat rescued from Battersea 3 years ago.

Ever since I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a vet and help as many pets as possible. The dream became a reality in 2009 when I graduated as a vet in Portugal, and for the past 15 years I’ve worked with small animals in four countries, across three continents, and in countless roles.

Vet on the Loose is designed to help dogs and cats (and their owners!) without the stress and hassle of visiting a traditional vet practice. By providing care in the comfort of your home, we can make veterinary services more convenient and affordable than ever before. We can’t wait to show you how great vet care can be.

Welcome to the pack!
